trying to create a white border around my after effects composition?
on Jun 21, 2018 at 8:43:21 pm

Hi, I'm trying to create a white border around my after effects composition, with a light that goes around the square highting its path.

If anyone could help I'd be obliged!

Cheers

When you're all done, what will be the horizontal & vertical dimensions of your work?

This will be pretty easy, but you should be careful:
  • Make a new 1920x1080 comp. Make it the same duration as your current comp.
  • Make an off-white (a bit gray), comp-sized solid in it.
  • Make a rectangular mask on the solid. Set it to Subtract to make a hole.
  • Animate the CC Light Sweep effect on the solid.
  • Nest your original comp in a second, newer comp.
  • Put the comp with the off white solid on top of this nested original comp.
  • Scale the original comp to lose less of its edges.

You have to fool around with the whiteness of the solid, perhaps tweak its mask, but other than that it's pretty straightforward.
