Creative Cow DVD Tutorials
on May 18, 2018 at 7:14:47 pm

Hi there...

Thanks for reading

We have a Creative Cow AE tutorial DVD from 2006 - Andrew Kramer
Is there any chance it can work somehow?

On mavericks it is not working, so put the label on it.

What do you think?

When you open the dvd and look at files, they look like this:

The lessons are probably on the disc as video files. You won't need that app.

Hi Tero,

That was a very good idea....

Did look and the whole thing seems to be swf / flash presentation. no movies there...sad.
and the swf, when trying to open say 'protected material' so wont open either....

but that was a ver good idea.

also, when clicking on the app. there is no show package.

I guess it may only play on a G5, mac or...
dont really understand why it wont play. old protocols?

I'm not sure if you want to watch the videos or use the project files.

And I'm not sure if the project files would even open in current AE versions -- AE 7 may have been a 16-bit application. It wouldn't hurt to try to open them, but don't get your hopes up.

The newer versions of AE should be able to open projects from After Effects version 7. See this Adobe blog post: https://theblog.adobe.com/opening-after-effects-projects-from-previous-vers...

The SWF (shockwave) player is still downloadable - its no longer under development but it still works on the mac. You can also open the files in some browsers (but not usually chrome).
I wouldn't be surprised to find the tutorials from that long ago now free on Andrews site and in an updated format.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for helping
I wanted to watch the lessons and learn.

The project files do actually open, in cs5.5 AE that I am using. One has to drag the .aep onto the ae icon, then they do open.

...and discovered the 'bonus material', the .swf files do open / play in acrobat pro.

I have flash, they wont open in there. Says protected movie.

So at least interesting to see at least some things.

thanks for the support and encouragment.

Warmly,
Hope

I see now, ok, hello....

....it is a DVD ROM

that makes more sense to me now....its not a dvd that one puts in a dvd player. Will find a friend w a G5 Mac, maybe it will work.

Thank you all for all your help you guys...and best of luck on all your projects. Checked out Andrew Kramers tutorials on compositing. Great. Thanks

Best of luck to all of you on your projects.

Warmly,
Hope
