Do You think it's worth buying Mark Christiansen´s book After Effects CC Visual Effects and Compositing studio techniques.Or it has been somewhat obsolete?I am hesitating to buy it and I would appreciate your advice.
Thanks

The techniques are still going to work, so there's that.

And considering that most of the newest AE features are geared toward automation, you probably won't be as old-fashioned as you fear.

If your AE work involves making 200 virtually-identical product animations for a shopping web site I'd tell you to pass on the book.

I have the book, it's very good but maybe outdated on some of the parts. I would recommend you find Mark Christiansen on Lynda.com and watch all of his Compositing courses. they are very good.

His Lynda courses is basically the book. Compare the contents. It's a great resource nonetheless.
