After Effects Rendering Inconsistent between two macs.
on Feb 23, 2018 at 3:37:38 am

I was wondering if someone could help me with this. I'm running the same version of OSX and AE on two computers. One a mid 2012 mac pro and the other a macbook pro. The source footage we are using is 23.976 and i checked all the footage and the composition and its all configured at the same frame rate but i'm having an issue where the footage is showing about two frames behind on every layer. So all the layers with footage have to be recropped to not show the previous scene at the beginning of the layers. This creates an issue as now when the other person loads it, it now shows the next scene at the end of the layers. It seems like it traces back to my computer as 5 other people try it and it loads fine. I even copied the preferences from their AE and replaced mine with it and still the same issue. I also did a complete format and reinstalled OSX from scratch thinking it may have been an internal codec issue and its still the same. I'm lost on how to fix this issue and confused as it was working fine before.

Have you had your machine shut down recently?
Have you tried trashing the preferences?

Hi Dave, Thanks for your time. I deleted my preferences and restarted my computer. No Change..

This problem has been somewhat solved from my understanding. They were running 15.0.0 and i was running 15.0.1. When upgrading to 15.0.1 the frames shift problem occurred. My solution is for us to use AE 2017 Stable release and upgrade when the next version of AE is released and 2018 becomes a stable build.

Yup -- my policy is to remain a version behind. I use the final update to the previous version.

Then I have all the bug fixes Adobe's going to make, and the sparkly new features the Adobe Marketing Weasels hyped stand a fighting chance of actually working... but not always. To wit: Adobe Team. What a train wreck!

What kind of footage is it? This sounds reproducible, so it'd be great if you could file a bug report about it.
