I have a render farm with about 40 machines on it running After Effects 2017 and was wondering if it was necessary to have Media Cache enabled? From what I've read, the media cache is for previewing purposes but if the After Effects machine is only rendering out frames (via render commandline/no GUI), then is it necessary to have media cache "on"? If so, what are the benefits for a render farm machine to do so?
I understand the HD speed/SSD/speed benefits but want to know if I were able to just bypass cache since we are given that option in After Effects. Thanks in advance!
