.mogrt text animator?
on Nov 27, 2017 at 6:26:24 pm

Hi everybody,

Right now I have an .aep file with just text sentences, the words animating on very simply one at a time by keyframing the Range Selector. Is this something that could be templatized in a .mogrt file so the editors could just do this in Premier?

Thanks!

I'm always a little gun-shy about using new Adobe features like this -- they're either flops or they don't perform up to the expectations they've generated. In this case, I have seen posts that it doesn't live up to expectations -- it's VERY limited in the things that come across from AE to PP.

But hey -- it doesn't mean you can't give it a shot.

edible text is easy, keyframing the range selector i'm not sure about...

but to test is is pretty simple...

to create the .mogrt, in AE choose window>essential graphics to show the essential graphics panel.

open the comp wth the text, twirl down the text properties to get to the source text property. drag the source text property onto the essential graphics panel.

do the same for the range selector property.

where it says Untitled in the essential graphics panel, type what you want to call the .mogrt, then click export motion graphics template.

bring that to premiere and see if you can keyframe the range selector.

[Kevin Camp] "bring that to premiere and see if you can keyframe the range selector."

You can't keyframe the range selector, but, depending on your needs, you could set up a slider control for duration or delay between words or similar, and drive the range selector with an expression.

Essential Graphics is nowhere near ready for prime time.

I actually think it's getting fairly close. I'd really like to see a 'drop zone'-like function like there is with motion/final cut, so an editor can simply drop in footage or an image to replace a layer in the .mogrt/comp.
