Hello to everyone,

Here is the situation:

i have project with several precomposed text layers to edit .

Than i use them in another composition.

Now i would like to edit all the text layer directly from the main composition using a dialogue box or at least using a simple formatted text file.

At the beginning i was looking for a kind of "text control" as the slider control or similar, but i realized that does not exist.

Another solution would be to write an expression that fill the text referring to a .txt file, but i'm not able to.

Please help me!

Thank's

People are always wanting to automate stuff in AE. I don't bother with it personally, and I'll tell you why:

Even if there WAS a way to semi-automate this process -- and there probably is -- people tend to get really goofy-looking typographic layouts. There's a big difference between text that says, "Big Sale!" and, "Save Up To 75% on Each and Every Item in Our 3-Acre Store!"

You get one to fit -- the other isn't going to look so good. Pick your poison.

Dear Dave,

i according with u on the line, but this is not that situation.

I'm just trying to let people editing all the data on the main composition without access to all the secondary elements .

This would prevent all the probable mistakes and allow people that are has not experience on AE to works independently.

Moreover is a way for me to improve my scripting skills.

Regards

assuming you are using cc2017 or later version of after effects, the 'essential graphics' panel might be what you are looking for. you can add all the text fields that need to be edited to the essential graphics panel.
