Hi, I would like to buy a new processor. Up to 1,000 Dollars. Which processor is best for After Effects CC and for future After Effects? I would like some processor that supports more than 64GB ram

Thanks

+ Which components do matter a lot for Quick Preview RAM?

Well, since AE is currently limited to one core of one processor for rendering, Fast processors are the priority. Don't fart around by overclocking them like the gamers do. It'll fail.

How long has Adobe been working on speeding up AE performance? Five years? And they still haven't made any significant headway, just incremental baby steps?

Go for the fastest core clock speed you can afford for sure. There are some things that use multiple cores to render (the Cinema 4D renderer, the Camera Shake Deblur effect, etc.), but in general, as Dave says, AE renders on one core.

I am in the market for a new computer as well and I am going with the 8700k because of this article:
