Bizarre Puppet (In)Action Outside of Comp

I'm having a really weird problem, and I have no idea why AE is doing this:

I have a comp of a guy on a bike, pedaling. The comp is one pedal rotation and then I have time remapped it to loop--pretty standard stuff that I've done a dozen other times in this project. Everything looks fine in the comp, but for some reason, when I place it in the main timeline, anything affected by a puppet pin doesn't exist, although the pedals do rotate as those were just done with a simple rotation keyframe. As is, the character just keeps this ridiculous superman pose as the bike moves position.

I tried removing the time remap, and that doesn't make any difference. Any ideas? Because I'm totally stumped on this one :-P
