AE errors and crashing
on Aug 20, 2017 at 4:10:01 pm

When launching AE I get these 3 errors:

After Effects error: Couldn't find main entry point for Picasso.plugin
After Effects error: Couldn't find main entry point for renior.plugin
couldn't find main entry point for Scripting.plugin

After opening it will crash.

Please help as soon as possible, thank you so much!

What are these plugins? Never heard of 'em.

I don't either, I don't even have plugins with those names!

Can anyone help? I can't use AE at all right now and I am working on a project.

How do these plugin names even appear? Where did you get your software from?

If it's legit, you may have to reinstall.

I bought it from Adobe, it's part of the CS6 Master Collection.

The only thing I did differently since this started happening was work off of my computer. I used work off of an external Quadra Lacie that has had problems so I turned it off. However I didn't have After Effects installed on the Lacie, I wasn't using the program from the drive, it's installed on my computer, I just had files on there that I would pull up to work on. So I don't know why that would cause any problems. Since the drive is down I can't test it, but I can't open a file from a stick or my desktop without the errors and then a crash.

Hmmm....

I would immediately get a new external drive. Identical to the bad one if possible. I would CLONE -- not copy -- the entire dodgy drive onto the new one.

Then you'll have the same drive as before. There has to be something on the contents of that drive that AE is looking for.

How do you clone and not copy? I am using a Mac. I can't access the drive at all. Fortunately I do have everything that was on the drive backed up onto another time machine drive that is the same.

Not that it will help now, but there's an app for Mac called Carbon Copy Cloner. Works great.

Best I can say is to try that other drive and keep your fingers crossed.
