Looping Issues
on Jul 12, 2017 at 8:39:45 pm

I have a precomp that contains a bunch of layers with individual position movements that are looping at different start and end times. This precomp is contained in a larger composition that needs to be rendered out to loop. Is there a way that I can make this happen? It seems that because these positions begin and end at a variety of different times, it isn't possible to create a loop from that larger comp. Any help would be appreciated.

I think you will either have to make all the timing common, or loop each individual element and find the least common multiple [link] of those sub-loops.

Personally, when designing loops like this, I tend to use the least common multiple approach to keep the loop looking fresh. If my main loop is one minute long, I might have some sub-loops like this:

5 second sub-loop, used 12 times
6 second sub-loop, used 10 times
10 second sub-loop, used 6 times
15 second sub-loop, used 4 times
20 second sub-loop, used 3 times
30 second sub-loop, used 2 times
60 second sub-loop, used 1 time
