saving presets, preserving standart values?
on Jul 3, 2017 at 11:40:21 am

Hi there
I want to save the transform effect as part of an effect stack as a preset.
But the values for position and anchorPoint should stay at there default values, which means the middle of the layer I guess (like if you just set the transform effect)

But when I safe the transform effect as a preset, the values always use the exact value they had been given while saving the preset,
which means that using the preset on layers with other layer dimensions, the effect uses still that once given values, which now are wrong of course.

So the question. Is it possible to save effect presets preserving the default value of properties?

I hope I was clear enough and thanks a lot for any help on that..

You have to use expressions to adjust as needed; I would recommend setting it as follows:

1. Set both values of the 2D position point to 0px;

2. Paste the code:
// assuming you want to paste this on a 2D position point
[value+thisComp.width/2, value+thisComp.height/2]

You can still edit both values, and every pixel you set is a "displacement" pixel from the center of the composition. Try.
