Adobe After Effects CC 2015 - Tracking

I am working on a 3D scene that has a very large explosion and rather than use Cinema 4D's effects ive elected to use stock explosion footagein the scene the camera tilts up

is there a way i can lock the explosion footage to a certain point without having to do it manually

Thanks in advance

Does this stock footage also pan up? If not, it's going to look pretty strange.

Okay, if you say......

It should be pretty simple to make it 3D & parent the explosion footage to one of the layers already in the scene. I bet you'll have to scale it up a lot, perhaps as the explosion occurs, so the fire & smoke stay in the shot as the camera tilts up.

The duration of the fireball and how quickly it grows will have a lot of bearing on any further tweaks, like vertical position & possibly animating scale. To make things easier, I recommend moving the layer's anchor point to the bottom of the explosion. The detail-preserving upscale effect might help too, but you'll have to jump through a couple of extra hoops to use it. I wouldn't be that bad.
