Is it possible to export a partially transparent image?
on Apr 17, 2017 at 8:54:56 pm

I am creating a graphic in after effects for a video I'm working on in premiere that needs to be at about 50% transparency. Meaning when I move the graphic into premiere I want the video layer underneath to show through. This is what it looks like in after effects, I put a still image behind it to see how it will look.

I tried (after removing the still) to put this project in premiere using dynamic link, and the box and pattern behind the text became a solid off-grey color, instead of transparent. Is there a way to link the project with premiere so that transparency is preserved? Or export the graphic that way and then import it into premiere?

You'll need to render out a movie in a media container & codec that supports alpha channels, then import it into PP. Not every codec is capable of this.

I like to use quicktime movies in JPEG 2000, PNG, Animation or ProRes 4444 (if you have it) codecs. They all support alpha channels.
