4K render issues
on Mar 22, 2017 at 5:41:35 pm

When I render a file at 3840 x 2160 in After effects I get 2 big white boxes on the top and bottom. Does anyone know why this could be happening and how I can get rid of it? Thanks you, Joe

Some information would be nice. Comp settings? Render settings?

Also: PRECISE version numbers of AE & OS, media container & codec of footage in question, third-party cards used & driver versions, effects applied to footage in question, use of 2D / 3D, use of time stretch or time re4mapping.

Thank you for answering. I think I figured it out. It seems the h.264 setting was a mismatch with that aspect ratio. I switched it to jpeg photo codec and it worked (eliminating the white boxes) but the render is not that crisp. I'm going to re-render under the animation codec unless you have another suggestion. Thanks again.

If this is AE CC 3027, do this before you render out again: set the comp's resolution to FULL. Ho half, no quarter, full.

There's some kind of bug that crews up renders, and I don't know if it's been fixed.

Thank you Dave. It was set to full. We are waiting on the animation codec to render out to see if it works.

It would be helpful if I type "2017" and not "3027", yes?

[joseph farina] "It seems the h.264 setting was a mismatch with that aspect ratio."

If I remember correctly the Quicktime version of H264 is limited to 2000x2000 resolution.
