How to make a fading trail on layer (position)?
on Mar 21, 2017 at 8:56:49 pm

Hi guys,

if you have a layer, lets say a ball, go from left to the right side of the screen. Can you add an effect or trick to have trail behind the ball whichs fades after x time or length?

I know you could do something like this with particular and link the emitter on the ball. BUt what if it would be a hand going downwards... you know like titanic steamy window scene 😉

Maybe duplicate the layer parent it and have a forced motion blur with a fill? Guess that would be pretty render heavy.

Easy as pie! Piece o' cake! Choose your dessert.

Add the Echo effect to your layer. It has lots of parameters to give you many looks.

Please note: you have to animate the layer's position for it to work. Video of something moving results in nothing.
