If the logo is a vector image, in Illustrator you can choose to Expand the object, both fill and stroke and then those shapes can be used as a mask on a solid and keyframed.

Hi Chouse, I think you may be talking about a Track Matte. Make the logo white, add the image under it. You should see 3 drop down boxes next to the image layer heading (if you can't, press the Toggle Switches/Modes box at the bottom of the layer panel) select the TrkMat box and set it to Luma Matte. The white parts will now show the image.

Hi, this tutorial (about half way through) discusses track mattes and how they work. It's very old but short and should help.

The whole series would be worth having a look at - they're short but cover the basic of basics:

Thanks for you feed back.

I am trying to reproduce this, instead of various pics it should have a short film as the image.

Thanks but this clip here was done 100% in AFX

Is it easier to do in a 3D program?

If so how?

Chuose

Hi, this may have been made using a 3D plugin such as Element 3D. Yes, it would be easier to do in a 3D Program - Element 3D is capable of it - though of course you need to learn how to use the program.

https://www.videocopilot.net/products/element2/

The general idea is that you use a video as the material which you apply to the front of the logo and perhaps also in the luminance channel.
I get the feeling that you are looking for an instant and easy way of doing this but I'm afraid I don't know of any simpler way - perhaps someone else might?

Forgot to say: to create the logo in 3D you will need to convert it to paths and then extrude it in the 3d application.

(I know there must be a way of editing my posts, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to do it - could someone kindly give me some guidance?)
