Weirdness with AME - Ae

I'm having a bit of trouble with an export.

I recently received an animated project, which I just need to tweak a little, and re render in a different framerate (25 to 29.97). Since most of it is keyframed, it does it without a problem.

However. When I queue it in AME, where we need to use the client's preset, some weird interpolation ghosting appears. Here's a capture:

I found a workaround, which means i have to render the whole thing in animation, then drag it back into AME, render with the preset, and it works. However it's a bit of a drag, and the job requires we output a few dozen of these. It's inefficient, to say the least.

I even tried prerendering everything and replacing it inside of after effects, but rendering from AE to AME still fudges up that lateral movement.

What could be the problem? What did I screw up? I can upload the preset as well, if you need me to.

Try changing the frame rate on all the project's nested comps to 29.97.
I'd also scrutinize the frame rate of the client's AME preset.
