Slow render speed Element 3D
on Jan 9, 2017 at 11:01:36 pm

Hi,

I'm working on some green screen stuff that's integrated in a virtual studio made in Element 3D.
But when i'm rendering out with Adobe Media Encoder on a fairly normal resolution (full hd) and low bitrate, i get insane rendering time (about 30 hours). The project isn't too big/complex and it's a 1min35sec duration.

Maybe this is normal on a low spec computer, but i have 2 Asus GTX 1080 in SLI-mode, an Intel i7-6950x 10 core CPU at 3.00Ghz and 64Gb DDR4 RAM.
I also have the latest Nvidia drivers for my graphics card, the latest BIOS firmware, the latest Adobe After Effects CC 2017, the latest Media Encoder CC 2017 and the latest version of Element 3D (2.2.2, 2147 hotfix).

Also, the GPU is enabled in After Effects preview settings, Mercury GPU Acceleration (CUDA) is selected in project settings and also selected when i'm rendering out in Media Encoder (the Software Only option is almost the same result in rendering time).

The rendering time is a little bit faster (maybe 25 hours instead of 30) when i set the multi and supersampling to zero but the project requires at the most a ''2'' setting on both.
Rendering mode on the Element 3D plugin is on full render.

Also tried to turn of the Antialiasing in the NVIDIA control panel but it doesn't do much.

Can someone help me? Thanks!

PS: This is a copy/paste from the system info in Element 3D:

I have the same problem but in the AE interface, during the play preveiw of my comps, or simply the lag from dragging timeline cursor to comp preview render

I have a simple infographics elements, 3d camera with many (not so many) 2d elements.

Using CUDA with a gtx 1080 win 10 with xeon e5-2620 2.1ghz 64gb ram...
Change little bit downgrade my monitor 4k to full HD ....

I have more problems with complex others scene, with big big textures and 3D obkects...

I have a little test with gtx 1080 vs my old quadro k4000 ....
The Quadro has the same performance but quadro has 766 cuda instead of 2560 of gtx....

I know gtx is not supported, but used at the same (I think) using the trick of cuda_supported_cards.txt

How do is possible?! any help please ... and solutions.... ☹

thx

Such projects with 2d elements and AE cameras will make almost no use of your GPU. It's all in the CPU. Thats why you'll see the same performance of a 1080 and a quadro.

Which versions are you all dealing with?

We are finding issues with the Dynamic Link connection with AE and AME CC2017.

This is on a Mac tube running on Yosimete.

Might have to update the OS.

Ever try rendering the old fashion way?

Sure ?!? 🤤 gpu are used with 3d element alone ?!

This should explain why at home with xeon at 3ghz go more fast that office with 2.1ghz...

Any idea to have a fast preview using cuda feature or tricks or if there are dedicated gpu card for editing video ?!.

Is unbelievable that wait so much time to watch preview...

Thx
