AE Scripting: Picking an item out of a specified folder within a project
on Oct 7, 2016 at 7:07:52 pm

Hi,

This is a total noob question, please bear with me.

All I'm trying to do is select the 1st item inside of the 1st folder in my project.

var myFolder = app.project.FolderItem(1);
var myComp = myFolder.item(1);

This is what I have now, but it is not working. What am I doing wrong here?

Thanks!

There are a LOT of ways to sort contents of a folder: name, date, file type... whatever. Which one did you pick? Do you know how the OS finds what you're calling "first"?

Right now I have a dummy folder with 5 dummy comps in it, just for testing. The problem is, my script isn't finding any of those comps because it gives me an error when I use the FolderItem object.

The root question here is, how do I call out an item from a folder that I specify? Let's just say, first folder and first comp within that folder.

Thanks!
