Achieving Slash Slide on After Effects CC?
on Oct 6, 2016 at 3:26:03 am

To preface, I am extremely new to post-production software and everything I say is coming from complete ignorance and a willingness to learn :p

So, I have Adobe After Effects CC 2015, and for a future project I wanted to find a way to achieve the effect/transition where these characters appear in gifs 2-3 and 6-7 in this gifset, but I don't know where to begin. A friend of mine who uses Premiere says it's called Slash Slide, so I started looking for tutorials on how to accomplish this effect with AE, but nothing came up. Can you help me?

The link you sent is leading nowhere. Im the meantime search for these Ae effects: Vanetian blindes, limear wipe, a script called slice it up: http://aescripts.com/slice-it-up/

Thank you for pointing out the issue with the link! I included links to the individual pictures at the bottom of my reply. The script you sent me isn't quite what I'm looking for, but it is very useful regardless

I can't think of a super easy way to do this for a beginner. You can use the effects I specified earlier on multiple layers and get the result you want. Especially linear wipe. You can use 2 sets of effect to get a narrow diagonal transition. I would create this from scratch by creating a few masks or shapes and with keyframes move them from left to right and with another big shape to reveal all the image and this would be my track matte for the image to reveal.
