Camera rotation based on object position (independent of POI)
on Sep 16, 2016 at 8:30:59 am

Hi,

I am quite new to AE and realize the subject line most likely does not explain my question very good.

What I am trying to do is making sure the cameras point of interest is fixed to one object (null1) while rotating based on its view and position to another object (null2). In other words the cameras position would be tracking/following null1 which I can do easily by making it parent to the camera, while the cameras rotation or the way it is facing would be based on the position of null 2.

I can think of really manual and messy ways of doing this, but I am wondering if there is a way where I can avoid having to manually rotate nulls for controlling which way the camera is facing.

I am really sorry if I am not making any sense.

Thanks!

Use a two-node camera.
link the camera position to the position of Null2 via an expression.
link the point off interest to the position of Null1 via an expression.
