Quick way to get a reference to a layer.
on Jul 29, 2016 at 11:53:09 am

I wonder if there is a quick way, maybe a script or plugin, to get a reference to a layer's property
like comp("MAIN COMP").layer("Style Control").effect("OUTLINE")("Color");
in order to copy it to clipboard and paste to another composition's layer's expression.

I know there is a 'Pick Whip' button, but linking properties like color values across many compositions by splitting screen onto two timelines is truly tiresome.
Maybe something like right-clicking on a property and choosing from context menu "Copy reference path"?

Have anyone seen something like this?
Martin

This script from Jeff Almasol does what you describe:
