copy over files to the other side of the comp

copy over files to the other side of the comp

say I have some video elements that I needed copied from on side of the comp to the other. I have some files in the beginning of a 10 second comp, what I need to to KEEP the files in the first 5 seconds but copy and paste them from 5 seconds on. how do I do this, I tried copy and paste but it just made copsies of the files and did not move them over

Just select the copied layers and drag them over to where you want them in the timeline. Or, precompose them and drag the precomp to where you want it in the timeline

It doesn't get much better: a guy from Adobe scours the web for you to compile an excellent set of aids for the novice.
