Use iPhone Gyro for tracking data?
on Apr 20, 2016 at 1:11:52 pm

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knew whether it'd be possible to export the gyro data from an iPhone and use it for more accurate 3D camera tracking?

Was just thinking... why mess around with a camera track when you've already got a sophisticated 3D sensor in the camera?

I don't know if the GPS is accurate enough to do that. At best, it place you about 10 feet of where you actually are.

Ah I was thinking more of the internal gyroscope rather than the GPS...

I was wondering the same thing. Has anyone figured it out? Snapchat, the app, uses this trick - it uses the phone's gyros to track its motion and allows you to place text/stickers in 3D space
