After Effects Scripting - Encrypt a Script

Is there any way to share a script with clients without them seeing the actual script? encryption?

Poke out their eyes. That's about it. OR... don't give clients AE project files. They should pay you for the work you do in your delivered media files. They shouldn't steal from you by possessing the work you did in the form of your project file.

You start handing clients project files, you start shooting yourself in the foot. Or if there's no way around it, they should pay a premium for project files. Hell, it's YOUR work. Not theirs.

The file is in ".jsxbin" format. This is an Adobe ExtendScript protected code format, it is not human readable. It is meant to protect the source code.

Thanks guys,
Great points Dave. They are purchasing 'the process' but I would like to avoid them updating it themselves by taking the code elsewhere. If the code is hidden and the process changes it would make sense for them to come back to us for the update.

Chris, that's what I was looking for. I'll be reading through those links thoroughly. Thank you.

In ExtendScript, File > Export as binary.

I obviously have never had a need to use Extendscript. Does it work on the entire project file, or does it affect only those portions the user chooses?

This is for the script only, not the AEP project file. It will let the client run the script, but not see or modify its source code.
