Problems of white lines around any objects
on Oct 28, 2015 at 4:06:19 am

I am having an problem as described in image -

Any object i draw in after effects , when i zoom in to align with other object there is 2px thick white line beyond actual boundary of shape.

This varies as i move the object in the composing area.

Is that normal or i need to do something to get rid of it?

I have selected no stroke - its 0 px.

occurs in all new projects too , i.e. its global for me.

What are your comp settings, aspect ratio, pixel aspect ratio. Also, can you post a screen shot of your timeline with any changes to the layer twirled open?

Sorry, your screen shot isn't showing up in the link. But I think you have a stroke applied to your shape. You should check.

Please provide a screenshot like this no we can narrow down the possible problem:

I don't see any problem there, only an antialiased soft edge from the shape not being aligned to pixel edges.

So that's an absolute normal thing?
That changes the opacity as i change the position of the object.

When i move the object with arrow keys, there is one position when that line becomes solid and no more a hindrance.

Yes, that "in-between color" pixel is normal sub-pixel sampling. That is how most pixel-based imaging programs deal with edges that don't align perfectly to a specific pixel edge, they blend the values in an attempt to produce a smoother output. It is the same as you see in the outlines of the text, just on a vertical edge that is not aligned to a specific pixel.

Essentially you will have to make sure that the edges are mathematically exact to get rid of that effect.

A potentially useful resource for you:

You will still have to make the solids an even number of pixels wide and tall for this to work on every edge.

Thanks for the guide. Understood what you conveyed, cleared my doubts.
