Casting 3D Light's Shadows onto Precomped 3D Layer(s) - no shadow appears
on Oct 7, 2015 at 10:24:18 am

I'm having trouble casting shadows onto a precomp of 3D layers.

In my scene, there is a spot light set to shine onto a wall, with a 3D solid layer acting as a cutter in front (meant to cast a shadow onto the wall.)

The wall is a precomp, itself set to 3D with collapse transformations enabled. (I want to move it in this 3D space and use a Camera, and maintain blending modes.)

Inside the wall precomp, there are two layers both set to 3D, the top layer set to 'multiply' over the other, and both with reduced opacity.

In the main comp, I expect the cutter to cast a shadow onto the wall precomp, but no shadow appears. Does anyone know what is going on?

In the precomp, do you have accept shadows turned on?

Also, do you have have any 2D layers between the object that you want to cast the shadow and the wall, that will mess up AE's render order, disabling the shadows.
