'cutting out' the intersection of two circles
on Sep 14, 2015 at 10:11:32 am

Hi there,

I was hoping to find out if anyone could help with what seems to be a simple animation in AE but has got me stumped - I want to have two coloured circles roll towards each other, and where they meet and overlap I would like the area to be white. Im guessing this can be achieved with masking techniques (from some similar posts here) but would be very grateful if someone could clarify how this would work

many thanks in Advance,

Bruno

Easy -- duplicate the comp with the two animated circles. Open the new comp and use the upper circle on the timeline as a track matte for the lower circle. You now have intersection only.

Nest this new comp in the original comp. Apply the Fill effect and make the fill color white.

Poof! You're done!
