Favorite Animation Export Formats? Best for YouTube?
on Jun 21, 2015 at 3:37:46 am

I'm working on an animation in After Effects. Most of the assets come in from Illustrator.

In general I've been using the Quicktime format and the Animation codec at 100 to export. The files are pretty huge, but if I run them through again in Premiere with the same settings, they get considerably smaller and still look great. The eventual destination is YouTube.

However, for some reason this one scene I'm working on looks terrible on YouTube. Everything looks like a bad bitmap image. I noticed that this particular scene doesn't get any smaller when I do the second pass, either. There IS a lot more going on in it than usual.

Anyhow, does anyone have any suggestions? The video looks fine until it goes to YouTube. Is there another format I should try?
