Is there a way to "backtrace" what a slider is connected to in expressions?
on May 18, 2015 at 2:46:56 am

Let's say I was working with an AE project I either made a long time ago and forgot how it works, or someone else's work. There's a bunch of sliders that control things in one "Controller" null, and a maze of many other precomps. Is there anyway to see everything that a slider is connected to, deep in the precomp labyrinth?

Thanks

I don't think so, but it'd be nice if you could see such connections in the project flowchart. Maybe a feature request is in order.

Aww oh well. Well I did figure out that EE shows only expressions so you could at least speed up the process by opening every precomp and selecting all and hitting EE to see where the expressions go.

How does the flowchart work anyway?

[Jeff Rouric] "Is there anyway to see everything that a slider is connected to, deep in the precomp labyrinth?"

Use the pt_ExpressEdit script [link]; filter with comp("My comp name").layer("Controller").
