How to recreate these TV Glitches.
on May 31, 2014 at 1:25:51 pm

Hey Guys,

Just wondering if you had any ideas on how to recreate these TV Glitches.

From 2 seconds until 6 seconds. I'm trying to re-create the larger blocks that appear on the screen randomly, like a digital TV is distorting.

I've tried a number of different methods but just can't quite get there.

Thanks

Theres a lot of different things going on there and certainly a lot of ways to approach it. One way might be to duplicate the layer, shift it over in x space, and then just mask out the blocks as you want. Then just make it a frame or 2 long.

Rather than masking, I'd suggest using something like Fractal Noise (tweak the settings) possibly in conjunction with Mosaic or some other effects and use it as a track matte.
