Using 1080 clips in 4K

Hi all,

Working on an AE animation at 4K resolution for a client, and they would like to be able to mix in some 1080 clips in order to have access to a wider variety of stock video.

How would this work, would I convert the 1080 clips up to 4K with a plugin? Or just scale it up?

4K dimensions are so different from 1080, I'm just not sure how this would work.....

Thanx all,

The quick answer is that you really don't have much choice but to scale them up since all they gave you was 1080p. There may be some upscaler technique or software out there somewhere but I don't even know if it is worth it. Unless this is a private thing being shown on a 4k tv or they have access to 4k broadcast I wouldn't stress too much about scaling it up.

I've had good results using the new detail-preserving upscale, located under the effects > distort menu.

this post might be too late, but consider Infognition's super-resolution to upscale. It uses ajoining frames to get better quality than you could alone.
