Best way to smooth a zoom-in shot
on Dec 21, 2013 at 5:06:03 pm

Hi there,

I have this shot where I tried to make a "top dolly-in shot", that due to low budget was just a zoom in shot. However, my zoom-in was terribly uneven and I'm trying to somehow fix it. I thought using warp stabilizer (only used it at its basic settings, though) but doesn't seem to apply to this situation, doesn't do much.

This is the shot:

Any suggestions? Thanks :)

you might have some luck with ae's warp stabilizer, if not, here's some other options.

1. you can precomp it, add timewarp 50%, then timestretch the precomp 50%. This smooths out the bumps.

2. virtualdub's deshaker is free and in 2 clicks you have perfect pans, tilts, rotations, zooms. It will do bicubic resampling and edge zoom compensations. Also supports widescreen and hdv.
Stabilizes horizontal/vertical panning, rotation and zooming.

3. syntheyes supports zoom smoothing
