I normally edit my music videos in Sony Vegas pro but occasionally I need some effects added from adobe after fx. My goal is to have the least amount of detail loss possible when transferring from vegas to afx, and from afx back into vegas.
My workflow is:
1. Cut the pieces I want in sony vegas, render out the clip as .AVI cineform codec
2. import the rendered file into AFX, add effects, render out as lossless best settings
3. bring clip back into vegas
The problem is that the file is so big and playback within vegas is choppy. I am looking for render settings from AFX (and additionally maybe from Vegas as well) that has smaller file size for smoother playback when i put it back in Vegas but retaining as much detail as possible.
I started out trying to render as .avi Cineform from AFX back into Vegas but I noticed some detail loss and pixelation. I'm not sure if it was because I had my settings incorrect though.

I use CineForm pretty regularly (but not Vegas), and I haven't had any trouble with it.
What settings are you using? Can you post screen shots?
