Trapcode not playing nice
on Nov 27, 2012 at 12:18:28 am

I posted this in the Trapcode Forum as well.

Something weird has happened in after effects when I use trapcode. If I create any particles, I can move around them with the unified camera tool in 3d space. BUT.....if I add any keyframes to the camera's position, the new position does not "live update" in the preview monitor, although I can see numeric changes in the parameters. If I ram preview the sequence, it's all jumpy and messed. I've reinstalled Particular. No change. I use Adobe cloud and am not sure if I can (or should)reinstall After Effects that way. If I remove the keyframes from the camera' timeline, I can then use the unified camera too again and it instantly shows live updates and smooth motion in the preview window.

Any ideas as to what has happened?
I use AEcs6 and Trapcode 2.1 on a windows box....64 bit 24 gig of ram.

Sounds like a global performance cache bug that was squashed in 11.0.1.

Make sure you are on the latest version of Ae CS6. The current release is 11.0.2 [link]. In After Effects, click Help > Updates. You'll have to quite Ae before installing any available updates.

That was it. Thanks a ton for helping. I wrongly assumed that Adobe cloud would auto update so I didnt even look.

Thanks again. My particles are once again, flying around nicely.

Happy to help, and glad to hear your particles are better behaved now.
