Change motion path without affecting the speed
on Jul 6, 2012 at 7:26:54 am

Hey guys,

I'm pretty new to After Effects, so I'm having a hard time to deal with it. I'm working on an animation for university. Basically it's about animating some objects to a certain piece of music. Anyways, for the time being, I'd be really happy if someone could answer my question:

How do I change the motion path (or rather the value of a position keyframe) of an object without affecting its speed? I want to make that object stop at an earlier point of the motion path, in doing so however, the speed of the entire path decreases.

Is there any way to avoid that?

Thanks a lot,
Emre

In the timeline, scrub to the frame where the object hits the spot on the motion path that you would like and hit Alt/Opt + P and then delete the original last keyframe.

You mean add another keyframe and delete the last one? But I am also using B├ęzier keyframes and that would only mess up the motion path. I'm really desperate...

Maybe the way I was trying to work this out was wrong to begin with...Is there a better solution for animating objects in a chain?
