Compositing/aspect ratio/timelapse
on Mar 24, 2012 at 12:56:20 am

Im have a shot from a CANON 5D shot at 1920 X 1080 30p, that was shot with the tripod locked in.

I also have a a picture that is 2784 X1856 (3:2) aspect ratio.

I need to composite these shots together but something about the aspect ratio is messing everything up. How would you go about matching the two stills, 1 that is 16:9 (1920 X 1080) and another 2784 X1856 (3:2), so they look identical?

Right now when i scale the picture down to 1080 things look more squished than the still that is from the video.

Here is the frame grab of the video shot at 1920 X1080 :,4KmJJ#1

here is the pic taken from the camera at 2784 X1856 (3:2) scaled down to 1920 X 1080.,4KmJJ#0

Notice the still is more squished.

You don't want to scale down your 2784x1856 to 1920x1080 because that is changing the ratio of the photo. Try using the fit to width command cntl+alt+shift+H. That will scale the picture down to 1920 but keep it's aspect ratio the same.
