Photshop PNG becomes distorted when imported in After Effects.
on Jul 14, 2011 at 11:49:08 pm

I am new to both After Effects and Photoshop, but I am trying to import an image from photoshop into After Effects so I can do a comp over a video.

I cut out the part of the image in photoshop from the original photo that I wanted, and saved it as a png. I then import it into AE, and and when I open it, it has a background on it and the image has weird edges that I didn't create. Neither of which I want or can do anything with. Ideas?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Austin

It sounds like AE is misinterpreting the alpha channel of the PNG. Select the PNG in the project tab, then Interpret footage [link] and use Straight as the alpha interpretation [link].

Use TIFFs or one of the 'cinematic' file formats for production work.
