Fibrejet read/write issues
on Nov 13, 2009 at 1:44:45 pm

Hi-
Running OS10.5.8, Fiberjet 2.8.2, Some seats are intel, some are PPC. All are runnning Leopard

We have some permission issues we are trying to troubleshoot...
(certain drives can't be grabbed as read/write, only read)...not sure if this is a database issue or a drive issue. I know you can go into maintainence mode to repair drives, has anyone used something like disk warrior? We tried Disc Utility but was not successful. Is there anyway to check if a database is corrupt?

Thanks
Rick Lavon

Hi Rick,

Are all volumes affected?

How much available space is on the volume(s) in question?

Are you experiencing problems with all user accounts? If you create a new user do you still experience problems? Try logging in from different workstation.

Check the RAID integrity.

Let us know if you resolve the problem. Thanks!

Hi-
We actually just were able to fix them using disk warrior. For the record, you have to-
1) quit the Fibrejet software
2) go into maintainence mode (in sys. prefs)
3)emergency boot the drives (in the same pref. panel)
4)repair with disk warrior (currently v. 4.2)
5)unmount all the drives
6)restart fibrejet software

Thanks Rick -
I saw that Brian posted this repair on FCP-L. I have an issue with permissions on a stand alone RAID 5 with an ATTO R380, with the same issue, and I am going to try Disk Warrior tomorrow morning, before I blow everything away and start from scratch.

Thanks for posting this. I also saw Wyler's comments. Pretty funny - like they NEVER have any problems (after 30 years).

Hi,

We have set-up FibreJet SAN for 3 separate customers, all running FCP.

For permission repair, we always use standard Apple Disc Utilities software and it works well with FJ.

Just to to share my night mare experience : Do Not use ATTO EL series HBA for your FJ SAN . The EL series is not friendly with FJ. We always meet problems with it untill we replace them to ES series ATTO HBA.

Best Regards
