viewer software

Good day

I hope this falls under the legitimate question, as I’m really stuck.

I have HD video files in xmf extension on an external hard drive. For the past week I've been trying to view the videos so I can screen the footage, prior going into editing.

I've downloaded software from both Sony and Panasonic web site, as well a VLC software and nothing enables me to view the files. The Sony viewer only grants MPEG 4, while Panasonic P2 viewer shows nothing. All software does not give any option to view MXF files.

Is there a direct link where I can download the right software and view the files without problems? Getting a Mac is not an option right now.

I'm on a PC here is the system info.

Microsoft Windows XP
Home edition
Version 2002
Service pack 2
Celeron CPU 2.66GHz
2.67Ghz, 1GB of RAM

xmf are usually music MIDI files. Are you sure someone didn't change the extension to that from .mfx Did you try editing the file name on one of the files to .mfx? Worth a try.
