I'm putting together an ENG rig for my AF100, and this will be the first time I've used an external battery system. It looks like Anton Bauer is the way to go, but I've also noticed that IDX seems like a contender. Any reason to go with IDX?
Also, what should I be looking for if I want to buy a used battery? Do the AB or IDX systems keep a recording on number of charge cycles? How long do this batteries last (both run time and overall life)?
I'm looking at buying the Anton Bauer TWIN 60-watt Two Position Portable Quick Charger and 2 Anton Bauer Dionic 90 Li-Ion Batteries
I've ran the AF-100 all day long and then some with one Dionic 90. Even supplying power to a SmallHD DP6. I don't know about cycle life but Anton Baur could answer that one. Give them a call. I have had three for over two years and they are going strong.
I also have a SB Viper from synergistic batteries. http://synergisticbatteries.com/. It was cheaper but isn't compatible with Anton Bauer chargers. It comes with its own and they have their own multi-charger.
