AF100 post workflow - transcoding with Compressor or MPEG Streamclip?

Hello- Sorry if this has already been addressed.

Going to be shooting alot of AVCHD/PH quality footage with the Pana AF100 in a very concentrated amount of time, and then editing soon after, and so want to get as much of a head start on my FCP workflow as I can, in the field. Won't reasonably be able to bring FCP app on location but can bring Compressor or MPEG Streamclip and so thought I could at least start transcoding to the project's primary edit codec, Pro Res 422 LT.

Thing is I tried opening up the Pana AF100 file folders in both Compressor and MPEG SC and neither seemed to recognize them (though FCP 7 did.) Wondering if there's some kind of plug-in/download I need?

Also, still very much a novice with those apps - do either of them allow you do batch re-name the files, a la FCP's log and transfer tool?

Thanks, Nick.

Nope you would need FCP- what's unreasonable about bringing that if you already have Compressor along?

I agree with Noel, I don't se why you can't just bring FCPro on laptop into the field.

Log and Transfer is the best way to bring in the footage.

If you insist on not bringing FCPro, Clipwrap is another option:

Transcodes are pretty fast with FCP's L&T with a few cores, and it's well integrated. Plus, I've never seen the problems with cut-off ends like with the import from Canon 5D/7D. So, what's wrong with this solution?

Yeah I mean I do this all the time with my little 13" Mac Book Air- which has the additional awesomeness of a built-in SD card reader. No worries...

Thanks fellas. I'm just being stupid - yes, using FCP in the field is the best option. Nick.

Same here! A few years ago we would have dreamt of something like this, and now people don't take the MB Air seriously, because it's so light and small…

Whatever you bring, you need FCS installed, otherwise no way to convert to Prores.

Hi, I can't find timecode when I screen our AF100 footaqe on my PC, using the AVCCam viewer software. My colleagues with Macs have no problem. Does anyone know what I need to "turn on"--or if I should use different screening software? Thanks for any suggestions!
