Best HD camera for under $5,000?
on Jun 30, 2010 at 4:56:13 am

Curious what the current 2010 HD favorites are.

Planning something suitable for low budget features.

Is 1080p essential?

Which camera has the best onboard xlr mixer? Is there anything with four xlr inputs or is that asking too much? Is this a requirement that should be dropped in favor of a separate mixer/recorder?

What about the ability to use different lenses?

In short, if you were to spend 5K tomorrow what would you get and why?

Thanks for your thoughts!

If you want 4XLR inputs you want an outboard digital audio recorder (or two) not a camera. And best in terms of what? $5K is a good sum for a DSLR camera with video capabilities, not so much for a higher end prosumer HD camcorder. You'd be looking at a Canon 5D Mark II, Panasonic HMC150 and whatever Sony has in this market right now.
