DVX100B NTSC - Put tape on a DVD

I'm working with someone remotely who basically just wants the tapes from the Panasonic DVX100B to be transferred to DVDs directly. I use Final Cut Pro for editing but have no experience with a request like this. Is there a way to just copy these tape file onto a DVD?
Thanks,
Jena

In an editable form or just for viewing on a DVD player?

Then why use DVDs? A 4.2 GB single-layer DVD-R is about 20 minutes of DV footage. It would be a huge PITA breaking a lot of footage up into 20 minute or less chunks.

Send them a hard drive instead. You can get a cheap 100 GB drive at any electronics store for under $100 +$20 FedEx shipping and they can send it back when they're done. And yes you charge for this. :)

That sounds like a good idea. I was wondering about how big the file would be. Do you know how to mechanically get the data from the tape onto the drive? I thought, since it was tape, that it had to be captured somehow. Is there an easier way to copy the footage over?
Thanks,
Jena

Sure it will need to be captured first via Firewire from a DV deck or camera then copied as QuickTime files on to the hard drive. Or you could simply send the tapes- sounds like there's not much for you to do on the project.
