DVX 100/Vertical lines in image

I have been shooting with a DVX 100B in 24P, squeeze mode recently, and now that I have imported the footage, I am noticing vertical lines in my image when monitoring on my computer screen. I did not notice this when shooting and it is not present when playing back on a control monitor. Is this a result of shooting in this manner, and is there a way to fix this and/or setup the DVX to prevent it from happening.

(could this be a result of setting the DVX V detail freq to thick instead of thin?)

Can you post a frame so we know what you're referring to? Export QuickTime Conversion> Still image. Upload to any website free photo service such as http://photobucket.com/ Then link it here.

That's interlacing. Was this shot 24pA or 24p?

That is what I thought but I tried to de-interlace with no luck. It was shot 24P.

Yeah a de-interlacing filter wouldn't work on 24p footage because it's partially progressive. You'd need to send it through take by take with CinemaTools which is a big PITA. I show how to do this step by step on my DVX100 DVD.

a free tutorial here is not that great but it's free:

Also keep in mind you have an NTSC-DV compatible signal right now- there's not a real need to remove those interlace frames unless you want to go out to film. But next time you'll want to shoot 24pA.

ok...so am I to understand that if I shoot in 24Pa then I will not see the interlacing, after de-interlacing my footage? And if I shoot in 24Pa do I have to capture my footage differently? i.e. pull-down removal? This footage will primarily be viewed online...that is why the interlacing concerned me. And by the way, thanks for all your help. You guys have always been very helpful.

You would capture using the 24p with Advanced Pulldown settings resulting in 24p or 23.98 progressive footage with no interlaced frames. You would not use the de-interlace filter then because you'd have no interlaced material to deinterlace. And btw- the deinterlace filter isn't something you need to use anyway with a 24p capable camera. It is really completely nonrelated.

Please read this it for more of the why-(should be a big help):

I'm currently dealing with this situation on footage that I know to be definitely be 24PA. I see it the most at the intersection of bright red on black, as well as with bright white.

Red lines here : http://s580.photobucket.com/albums/ss246/gelaine_03/?action=view¤t=re...

White lines here : http://s580.photobucket.com/albums/ss246/gelaine_03/?action=view¤t=li...

I tried going to the site suggested here, but the page seems to not exist anymore.

Thanks in advance!
