DVX100b moisture malfunction
on Aug 9, 2008 at 7:02:52 pm

Yesterday, I was filming at an outdoor location on an extremely humid day. I'm guessing that condensation got inside the camera and it shut off automatically. I looked in the dvx100b user manual and it states that the power automatically turns off when condensation forms inside the camera.

So, I put the camera back into the case in my car to let it dry out. I waited for approximately 3 hours until I turned my camera on. Everything appeared to be functional again, however, when I turned the camera off both of the rec tally lamps came on and the camera and vcr indicator lights turned on as well. I let the camera sit over night, and the same thing is happening now. Also, the on camera mic is not picking up any audio.

Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

Let it sit for another way in a cool dry spot without turning it on- or another day. If it doesn't come to life again after 2 days send it in for repair.
