We're bidding on shooting a live event and we plan on having two HVX cameras covering it. I'm probably going to rent a Panasonic AJ-PCD30PJ 3-slot reader for dumping cards in the field. Has anyone tested this unit at USB 3 speeds? Wondering how quickly it can dump 32 GB cards.
I found this online - so I thought I would post it so others reading might have some idea of what this product can do. Hopefully you and others find it helpful.
With a SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface, the PCD30 provides the fast offloads from a P2 card. For example, when using a Windows PC with a USB 3.0 connection and simple RAID configuration, you can offload three fully loaded 64 GB E-Series P2 Cards in under 15 minutes. This means you can quickly offload AVC-Intra 100 or DVCPRO-HD content at more than 12x real-time, making the PCD30 especially well-suited for use in reality TV and long-form video production.
