Shooting "reality-style" @ 1080i/30p, 60fps - quick pans/tilts don't look good

Hello All,

Like the subject line says, I've been shooting a good deal of run n'gun type footage with quick pans and tilts and the images are just not crisp with "blurring" or something around the edges and pixelization on the inside. Is there a better setting I should be using?
Thank you!

Thank you!

What is the final delivery specs???
That is what you should shoot.

That being said, 1080i/60i or 720p/60p is what reality and sports are typically shot at.

No specs 'cause it's for my own project but I'll do what you suggest regardless. Thank you!

It will depend on your camera, but if you're talking about motion blur you can increase the shooter speed.

Thanks Fernando, but what does "shooter speed" mean?

Thank you!

Ah, I see. Yes you have a point however messing with that too much can also cause it's own issues. I think for now I'll go with simply bumping the fps from 30 to 60 and see how that goes. Thank you for your input, though!

Thank you!

MInd you that 1080 is 30fps and 720 is 60fps. That camera doesn't shoot 60fps at 1080. 1080i60 indicates 60 FIELDS per second...that's 2 fields per frame...30fps.

Panasonic often has the camera shutter speed set to the Frame rate. So at 30P your camer could be at 1/30th of a second. Too slow for much motion. Set the shutter to half the frame rate (in this case make sure it is 1/60 instead of off) I often shoot with 1/60 even in 24p to avoid flicker motion issues as well.
