Not sure when links to images will appear but Panasonic has announced whole new crop of cameras pre-NAB at their press conference today. http://eon.businesswire.com/news/eon/20110410005066/en

AG-3DP1, a 3D camera that shoots to P2 cards? Amazing and cool.

I must say that the AG-HPX250 is a real surprise, I truly thought that the AG-HPX170 would be their last small form-factor P2 camera, I eat my words. Nice, a 170 sized camera that shoots AVC Intra to P2 cards.

Two new AVCHD cameras also.

Nice stuff coming down the pike from Jan and co. Can't wait to see them and try them.

Ya but unlike the 170....the new 250 model is a C-MOS cam.

It is the same chip set as the HPX-370 I believe but in a small form factor. CMOS is the only way possible to get full raster on a 1/3" imager. Nice camera. That was the one thing holding me back to from the 300/370. Great cameras but they require a whole other level of support, bigger, more expensive battery and charger and when I travel, who wants to lug a shoulder mount camera on a plane. I have done it, it is a PITA.

I wonder if the 250 will be considered an HD rated camera by the broadcasters. The two 170's that I have are great, but considered SD cameras by Discovery et all.

I wonder if there's any chance that there would be some available by late May?

[Patrick Fries] "I wonder if the 250 will be considered an HD rated camera by the broadcasters."

Well the BBC has recently approved the HPX371 as a Shoulder mounted HD camera and this is the same chip set, it would seem a matter of course. Keep in mind that broadcasters all over the world are using the HPX370 camera, in fact we announced one very large adoption by Sinclair Broadcast here in the US at NAB. They also purchased a small battery of the HPX170s.

Hope this helps,

Jan

The Beeb has also approved the Canon XF300 series too and this new camera will have a superior codec so I would not be surprised if the BBC and some others (Discovery Networks) allow footage from the HPX250, at least at the Bronze or hopefully even the Silver level.

Camera looks great Jan, you have been busy! Thanks.
